New Patient Information
Welcome to Alive Chiropractic in Emerald. Here is everything you need to know before your first appointment.
New to Chiropractic? Watch This First
If you are new to chiropractic care and have questions about what it involves, this short educational video will answer many of them. It covers how chiropractic works, what to expect during an assessment, and how the spine and nervous system are connected.
Educational video provided for informational purposes. Content is general in nature and does not constitute medical advice.
New Client Intake Forms
To save time at your first appointment, you can complete your intake form online, then open your email app with the completed form pre-filled and send it to our reception team before your visit. Alternatively, download the PDF to print and bring with you.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Clinical History Taking
Your chiropractor will begin by taking a thorough clinical history. This includes discussing your current symptoms, how and when they started, any previous injuries or health conditions, your occupation and daily activities, and any medications you are currently taking. This information helps your chiropractor understand the full context of your presentation.
Physical Examination
A comprehensive physical examination will be performed, which may include postural assessment, orthopaedic testing, neurological screening (including reflex, sensation, and muscle strength testing where relevant), and assessment of spinal and joint mobility. The examination is tailored to your presenting complaint.
Discussion of Findings
Your chiropractor will explain their findings in clear, understandable language. They will discuss whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for your presentation, what a proposed care plan might involve, and what outcomes you might reasonably expect. You are encouraged to ask questions at any point.
Care Plan & Consent
If chiropractic care is appropriate, your chiropractor will outline a proposed care plan including the number and frequency of recommended visits. Treatment will only proceed with your informed consent. You are always free to decline or modify the proposed plan.
First Treatment (If Appropriate)
In many cases, treatment may begin at the first appointment following the assessment and discussion of findings. Your chiropractor will explain what each technique involves and check your comfort throughout.
